Houses for Rent near International Schools

Apartments and Condominiums for Rent, Too, Near International Schools

There are many international schools in central and suburban Bangkok. Most families choose an international school first, then a home location, so that it's easier for the kids and wife, especially given the size of Bangkok and its traffic. However, if you first choose a given region to live in, then you will still have a selection of international schools. There are also buses (minivans) which bring children to/from school for a small additional fee.

International schools are generally divided into two categories: "international" and "bi-lingual". International schools are supposed to have at least 50% non-Thai students, whereas bilingual schools may have a majority of Thais but have foreign teachers and offer classes taught in both languages. However, you may find many so-called "international schools" are actually bilingual schools in Bangkok.

In the list below, the schools are noted at British, American, or other curriculum. Many of these also offer the International Baccalaureate (IB), but this is not noted in the list below.

As education is very important, it's best to research the schools, so we provide links to the main ones below, grouped by region -- Sukhumvit, Silom and Sathorn, Bangkapi, Bang Na, Nonthaburi, and Pathum Thani.

It is my opinion that what's most important is not the curriculum but that the child have a good educational environment and enjoy learning. In Thailand, unfortunately, too much emphasis is put on exams and scores. That's why you have so many graduates of top Thai universities who have limited problem solving skills in the Real World or natural curiosity in their field beyond their required needs, and most inventions come from America and Europe. Conventional financial success can be fairly well assured by a disciplined standard education, but adaptability to an evolving world and life fulfillment may go beyond the conventional for many people. However, it really all starts in the family environment and nurturing, though schools and parental pressures and expectations have a lot to do with it.

There is more discussion on international schools in Bangkok on the Thailand Guru site, including a table of school fees.
